While the Ford Taurus was discontinued in the U.S. years ago, that same nameplate lives on in places like China and the Middle East, where folks still gravitate toward sedans, it seems. Thus, those in America that want a Taurus today must look to the used market, though there are quite a few nice, lower-mile examples that pop up for sale via collector car auctions, too. That certainly includes the high-performance Ford Taurus SHO, and now, a rather stellar and extremely low-mile example of that special model has surfaced for sale.
This 1996 Ford Taurus SHO is currently available via Unique Classic Cars, a dealer based in Mankato, Minnesota. It has a mere 2,924 miles showing on the odometer, and remains in excellent condition as a result. Its Toreador Red paint looks like brand new with no noted flaws, which is also true of its chrome wheels and newer tires. This Taurus SHO has a clear CarFax and hasn’t been in any sort of accident, and its mileage has been verified as well – an important consideration for collectors.
Inside, one will find a Saddle leather interior that’s in equally nice condition and packed with amenities such as air conditioning, along with power windows, power mirrors, power locks, the original stereo system, and a power sunroof. Power comes from the naturally-aspirated Ford 3.4L V8, originally rated to produce 235 horsepower, which is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. This Ford Taurus SHO comes with a color-matched front license plate, various extra parts, and a car cover, all for an asking price of $22,900.
It’s been a few months since we’ve seen a Ford Taurus SHO from this particular generation in this kind of condition – a 1998 model that surfaced for sale last December with a mere 683 miles on the clock. That sporty sedan was in equally (if not better) condition than this one, and it featured black exterior paint, to boot.
