1997 Ford Thunderbird LX With 600 Miles Heading To Auction

The Ford Thunderbird has been absent from The Blue Oval’s lineup for quite a few years now, but used examples continue to prove popular on the collector car auction circuit, regardless. That phenomenon doesn’t just apply to older T-Birds, either – rather, we’ve seen quite a few tenth-generation examples of the long-running model that have been popping up for sale as of late, and they’re generally selling for solid sums as well. Now, this very low-mile 1997 Ford Thunderbird LX is aiming to be the next on that growing list.

This 1997 Ford Thunderbird is easily one of the lowest-mile examples we’ve seen in quite some time, as it has just 560 miles showing on the odometer. It’s set to cross the auction block at Mecum’s Indianapolis, Indiana sale in May, where we’ll certainly be interested to see what sort of hammer price it garners. If nothing else, this is clearly one of the nicest T-Birds from that model’s tenth-generation that exists, as the Alpine Green beauty looks essentially brand new in every department.

That perfect paint is complemented by an equally sanitary Willow Green interior, where one will find cloth seats with four-way adjustably on the driver’s side, power windows and locks, a power moonroof, tilt steering column, and the Luxury Lighting Group. Power comes from the naturally-aspirated Ford 4.6L V8, which is mated to an automatic overdrive transmission and a Traction-Lok rear axle. Underneath, this T-Bird also sports a four-wheel independent suspension and power disc brakes at every corner.

In addition to this incredibly nice model, we’ve seen quite a few other tenth-generation Ford Thunderbird coupes pop up at auction in recent months. That list includes a 1995 T-Bird with 22k miles, a 1991 model once owned by NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon, and a 1990 Super Coupe with just 65k miles showing on the odometer, not to mention a 1995 model with an also-incredibly low 500 miles on the clock.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

  1. By then they’d made the front end so small, it looked ridiculous.
