The 11th generation Ford Thunderbird borrowed its retro muse from the two-seater mid-century Thunderbirds. While the model was discontinued after a brief stint in the mid-2000s, occasionally, relatively low-mileage relics are sold off, like a 2002 model year coupe with just 6,000 miles and another that wasn’t even broken in at 500 miles. Another 2002 Ford Thunderbird is searching for its new home, showing just 7,000 miles racked up over the last two decades.
Auctioned off on Bring a Trailer, this clean 2002 Ford Thunderbird was acquired by the seller in 2020. Sporting a striking coat of Torch Red exterior paint over a matching Torch Red and Black leather interior, the coupe is decked out in the Full Color Accent Package, along with a classy black soft top and body color removable hardtop with signature porthole windows.
A set of 17-inch seven-spoke chrome Premium wheels reside in all four corners. Integrated fog lamps are affixed up front, along with an egg-crate grille, integrated fog lights, a hood scoop, chrome trim, and Thunderbird script badges.
Inside, the Torch Red accents are found on the seats, the steering wheel, lower dashboard, shifter, center console, and door panels. The seller notes that the key fob locking function does not work on the left door, and the right side visor mirror is cracked. The digital odometer shows 7,000 miles, approximately 1,300 of which were added under current ownership.
Power in this 2002 Ford Thunderbird is sourced from the 3.9L V8 engine, factory rated at 252 horsepower and 268 pound-feet of torque, which is delivered to the rear two wheels via its five-speed automatic transmission. Recent services include a battery replacement and oil change in February 2025. The original window sticker shows a MSRP of $40,245 – or roughly $71,541 when adjusted for inflation.
At the time of this writing, the high bid is $8,000, and interested buyers have until May 13th, 2025 to place their bids.
