The 2025 Ford Escape rolled in with a handful of modest updates over its 2024 predecessor. For example, the 360-degree camera is no longer standard fare on several trims, while the ST-Line ditched its body color moldings in favor of blacked-out plastic. The entry level Active trim was subject to a handful of minor changes, too, including the addition of one new color to its palette.
The 2025 Ford Escape Active now offers Rapid Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, which was added back after a brief hiatus. This color, which is considered a premium option priced at $495, was not offered on the base Active trim for the 2024 model year. However, it was available for the 2023 Escape Active – but not on the now-discontinued 2023 Escape Base trim.
Rapid Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat was first introduced for the 2020 Ford Escape. Now that it’s available on the 2025 Ford Escape Active, this color is available across the entire trim level lineup. In other words, it can also be had on the 2025 Escape Active, ST-Line, ST-Line Select, ST-Line Elite, Platinum, and PHEV.
The 2025 Escape lineup also gains Space Silver Metallic for the first time, while leaving two colors behind. That brings the total color count to six, which includes the following:
- Star White Metallic Tri-coat (AZ)
- Rapid Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat (D4)
- Carbonized Gray Metallic (M7)
- Agate Black Metallic (UM)
- Oxford White (YZ)
- Space Silver Metallic (A3) (new for 2024)
The 2025 Ford Escape Active FWD starts at $30,590 excluding destination freight charges, while opting for the AWD variant bumps the price to $31,990. While the future of the Escape was initially up in the air, Ford Authority recently reported that it will continue to be built for the 2026 model year. That means that it will stick around for buyers interested in an affordable crossover, and Consumer Reports even added the Escape to its list of recommended models, citing its above-average reliability.

I’d have to see this in person but it’s got to be better than the fire engine red previously that no one wanted or asked for. Now that Ford blew it with the FordPass Rewards card (it’s dead) and GM is lifting all redemption limits on the new GM Card coming in August, I’m back to the Equinox WAY ahead of this thing.
