2025 Ford Mustang GTD Pricing Tops $600K With Options (Updated)

This past February, Ford Authority was the very first outlet to report on pricing of the brand new 2025 Ford Mustang GTD, outside of the well-known fact that the ultimate road-going pony car starts out at $325,000. With the Ford Mustang GTD Carbon Series starting out at $428,000 and the Spirit of America carrying an MSRP of $429,000 sans options, we fully expected those numbers to swell much higher with a few boxes ticked. Now, we’re learning that one can easily surpass the half-million dollar mark if Ford Mustang GTD buyers opt to tick all of those option boxes.

On a recent episode of The Smoking Tire podcast, host Matt Farah revealed that one Ford Mustang GTD buyer told him that after toying around with that model’s special configurator – which is only accessible to those that were approved to buy one by FoMoCo itself – they learned that loading up the new pony car results in a sticker price of more than $600,000. “He was very concerned about his GTD order because what he was told originally would be about a $300,000 car with the options and the track aero kit and all the things you get…the final number started with a six,” Farah said.

It is worth noting that this news came second-hand via one Ford Mustang GTD buyer, but it also isn’t hugely surprising. After all, on top of the premiums one will be paying for the Carbon Series and Spirit of America edition, customers can also opt for special features such as the “Extended Color Palette,” which allows owners to access thousands of other colors that they can scope out with the help of a special concierge team guiding buyers through the entire ordering process. They can even go for the “Exclusive Extended Color Palette Lock-Out Option,” which actually guarantees that no other owner can pick that same color.

Regardless, Ford Mustang GTD owners are getting a heck of a lot of car for that lofty outlay of cash, at least. The special model became the first American-branded vehicle to lap German’s Nurburgring in under seven minutes late last year, and then managed to best that same lap time in a recent follow-up visit, to boot.

Ford reached out to Ford Authority and provided the following statement in response to this story: “As we’ve said before, Mustang GTD starts at approximately $325,000. Even with every available option, it’s not possible to reach the reported price.”

  1. Well, I guess if you have the pedigree to be permitted to purchase one in the first place, and you’ve made the decision to put the required down payment on one, then the options game shouldn’t really come as much of a surprise. Depending upon what a purchasers plans are for his/her GTD, I would think would guide what if any options they decide to add. Not being in this rarified group, mine has always been about the driving experience. So all my choices would be targeted toward that goal. Would I care that someone else may have the same paint color? No. It would just mean that they have the same good tastes as I do.
