Compared to the 2024 model, the 2025 Ford Ranger receives a handful of relatively minor changes and updates consistent with a model year changeover.
Model Cadence
The 2025 Ranger represents the second model year of the midsize pickup truck’s fifth generation, which was launched in the U.S. market for the 2024 model year.
Model Line
Like the 2024 model, the 2025 Ford Ranger continues to be offered across one body configuration (SuperCrew, Short Box) in the following four trim levels:
- XL
- XLT
- Lariat
- Raptor
Mechanical
No changes are made to the mechanical bits of the 2025 Ford Ranger. That means that the midsizer continues to be offered with a choice of three turbocharged gasoline engines, starting with the 2.3L EcoBoost I4 as the standard mill and the 2.7L EcoBoost V6 as the optional engine. The twin-turbocharged 3.0L EcoBoost V6 is exclusive to and standard on the Ranger Raptor. Ford’s ten-speed automatic transmission handles shifting duty, with 2WD and 4WD on offer, depending on drivertrain selection.

Exterior
The first set of changes is to the outside, where the 2025 Ford Ranger replaces three 2024 exterior colors with three new ones.

Interior & Comfort
No changes are made to the interior, with the 2025 Ranger continuing to feature a maximum five-passenger seating capacity. A vertically-oriented 10-inch display within the center stack is standard on the XL, while a larger 12-inch display is available on XLT and standard on Lariat and Raptor. Similarly, the XL and XLT get an eight-inch digital instrument cluster, while Lariat and Raptor get a 12-inch unit.
Safety & Security
The 2025 Ford Ranger gets a key change to the SecuriCode Wireless and Keyless Entry Keypad, which is now black molded in color (MIC). It was body-color for the 2024 model year. The keypad is now also a Dealer Installed Option (DIO), rather than a factory-installed item, which was the case for the 2024 model year.
Packages
The 2025 Ranger also receives several changes to its available packages, including the addition of a new Black Appearance Package, and renaming the Chrome Appearance Package to Chrome Accent Package.

Finally, the FX4 Off-Road Package gets two changes. First, the Outlined White Letter (OWL) tires are removed, switching to blackwalls instead. Second, the running boards are no longer a requirement on the FX4 pack, a very welcome move that’s been welcomed by those who will actually use their Ranger FX4 off the beaten path.

Beyond 2025
We expect the Ford Ranger to undergo a midcycle refresh for the 2027 model year, with the present generation truck likely remaining available beyond 2030.
