The Ford F-150 Lightning has been on the market for a few years now, though despite The Blue Oval’s intense focus on off-road-capable vehicles, no such Lightning variant exists. We got a preview of what such a vehicle might look like in the form of the Switchgear concept that debuted in early 2024, but as of now, there’s nothing even remotely similar on dealer lots. Now, one of the F-150 Lightning’s chief all-electric pickup rivals has gained a new off-road-focused trim, however – the 2026 Chevy Silverado EV Trail Boss, which just made its official debut.
The 2026 Chevy Silverado EV Trail Boss joins some other off-road focused models in that brand’s lineup that also wear the Trail Boss nameplate, such as the ICE-powered Silverado and Colorado. It gets a variety of upgrades that are aimed at making it more capable on non-paved surfaces, including a two-inch lift and 18-inch wheels wrapped in 35-inch all-terrain tires, which give the Trail Boss 24 percent more ground clearance than the standard model.
Those features are joined by a specially tuned coil suspension system, plus hydraulic rebound control, which helps the 2026 Chevy Silverado EV Trail Boss better navigate uneven surfaces. A special Terrain mode enhances the truck’s four-wheel steering for improved control at lower speeds, and Sidewinder mode enables the pickup to turn the front and rear wheels in the same direction and execute the same sort of crab walk that the GMC Hummer EV is known for.
The 2026 Chevy Silverado EV Trail Boss stands out visually thanks to its high-approach front bumper and red tow hooks, while there are auxiliary switches inside the cabin for wiring up all sorts of things. In terms of battery packs, Silverado EV Trail Boss customers can opt for the Extended Range unit providing 410 miles of range with a price tag of $72,095, or the Max Range and its 478 miles of range, starting out at $88,695. Either way, two electric motors churn out 725 horsepower and 775 pound-feet of torque, with the latest addition to the Silverado EV lineup slated to launch sometime this summer.

It is not going to sell. I would think the people who like to go off road like the sound of their engines and exhaust.
I agree with Joe. It’s too expensive and electric car people don’t go off road
oh..this is a great option. if im in the woods, hearing a giantic v8 motor kills the silence that you hear.
You don’t think you would hear the truck depicted in the photos above? lol!
