For at least a portion of its 60 years of existence, teal was a popular exterior color choice for Ford Mustang shoppers. This was true even of the Fox Body and SN95 generations of the iconic pony car, which offered teal shades in various forms over the years, such as Midnight Turquoise. It’s been quite some time since we’ve seen a factory teal of any sort offered on the Mustang, which isn’t terribly surprising given how popular more subdued colors like gray have become. Now, however, it seems as if teal is set to make a comeback on the 2026 Ford Mustang.
This 2026 Ford Mustang prototype was recently spotted testing by Ford Authority, showing off a new shade of teal that’s seemingly set to be offered as part of the pony car’s new model year updates. This particular model is an EcoBoost coupe, and it’s sporting a hue that should appeal to folks that prefer their cars to be a bit more vibrant than the typical shades of black, gray, and white provide. It’s also a bit of a retro throwback for those of us that appreciate that kind of thing, too.
Teal isn’t the only new exterior color option heading to the 2026 Ford Mustang lineup, either. Earlier this week, Ford Authority spotted a 2026 Mustang EcoBoost coupe and convertible out testing wearing a new orange shade as well. This should come as a welcome addition for some shoppers, given the fact that we haven’t had a true (save for Cyber Orange, which is more yellow than orange) orange shade available on the Mustang since the S550 generation.
Other than adding some new colors to its list of available exterior hues, the 2026 Ford Mustang lineup is also seemingly set to gain a new, range-topping, high-performance variant as well. Earlier this week, Ford Authority spotted two prototypes of what could be an all-new Shelby GT500, given the fact that both were wearing S550-generation GT500 wheels. However, it’s also possible that this future model may utilize a different name altogether.

I could get behind a resurrection of teal. It’s time.
Ohhhhhhhhhh
Love it. Remember when interiors were color keyed? Now we have black, gray, maybe beige, and more black. This would be very cool with a teal interior. One could maybe overlook the horrible dash.
Now we are getting somewhere. Tired of grey, white, black.
Reminds me of my old Pontiac Grand Prix, right down to the wheels.
Tired tired tired same body same rear end lights ugly front end, only the color is nice they should have taken the Mazda red that is just awesome in the sunlight..I think they should bring back the 64 and make it the same period .
Because more color options will totally excuse the overpricing.
Love this color hope they add it to the Ranger especially the Raptor version tired of the flat dull paints they are pushing. That Marsh grey has got to go it looks so ugly on the F150 King Ranches, it looks like some one forget to finish paint on the lower color on the 2025 King Ranch. I wounder if the Ford’s color guy or gal is color blind because they love different shades of primer on there vehicles. This teal is a start maybe they will bring back some nice colors.
