The mid-size mainstream crossover space has lost its fair share of entries in recent times, all while gaining even more. In the Blue Oval’s lineup, that includes the Ford Edge, which was discontinued after production ended at the Oakville Assembly plant in Canada one year ago, after more than two million units of that crossover were built between 2007 and 2024. Soon, it will reportedly be joined by the Chevy Blazer – at least, the gas-powered one, and not the EV, which is set to go away following the 2025 model year. Despite this, Stellantis is soldiering on and teasing the all-new 2026 Jeep Cherokee ahead of its debut.
Set to launch in late 2025, the 2026 Jeep Cherokee will arrive bearing a total redesign for the long-running model, which includes “a new, efficient and powerful hybrid propulsion option from Jeep,” according to the brand. “The new Jeep Cherokee respectfully honors its rich history with an innovative eye toward the future as the Jeep brand continues to meet the needs of every driver and every journey. From industry-leading ICE vehicles to plug-in hybrid leadership to all-electric offerings, the new Jeep Cherokee joins the mission to empower customers with the freedom to adventure their way with unmatched Jeep capability and innovation.”
“The all-new Jeep Cherokee headlines our efforts to deliver more product, innovation, choice and standard content to customers than ever before,” said Bob Broderdorf, Jeep CEO. “Jeep Cherokee will boast competitive pricing that strikes at the core of the largest vehicle segment and sits perfectly between Jeep Compass and Jeep Grand Cherokee to bolster our winning mainstream lineup.”
For now, at least, details remain scant pertaining to the 2026 Jeep Cherokee, aside from these images that Stellantis provided of the all-new mid-size crossover. It sports a much boxier design than the current model, sharing some cues with the all-electric Recon 4xe, but otherwise, we should learn more about the newest Cherokee very soon.

Hate to break this to you but this will compete with the Escape. The 2-row Grand Cherokee is the mid-sizer that competes with the former Edge and the Blazer.
Stellantis explicitly calls this a mid-sizer, which the Escape is not.
Jeep has promoted the Cherokee as a mid-size for a number of years. Size-wise it has compared most closely with the Escape, RAV4, CRV, etc. Is the 2026 version going to be a bit bigger? The recent US News review indicated it is. Whether it is or not could be resolved by hard dimensional numbers.
Bring back an XJ type of Cherokee.
