300K-Mile 2013 Ford F-150 Raptor Got Real Loud For A Bit: Video

Buying a high-mileage vehicle is always a gamble. YouTuber John Ross of WatchJRGo documented the new vehicle purchased by his cohort, Eric, who purchased a 300,000-mile 2013 Ford F-150 Raptor off another YouTube personality. Unfortunately, it didn’t take long before the muscle truck presented with a problem. As Ross puts it, “It’s already broken.”

Video still of John Ross working on the 2013 Ford F-150 Raptor, which presented with a noisy blower motor after years of being caked with dirt.

Thankfully, it doesn’t seem to be that big of a deal. As soon as the blower motor in the 2013 Ford F-150 Raptor is started, it lets out a horrible noise, indicating that one of the blades is busted. Everything is readily accessible, so the repair shouldn’t be too involved, so they get to work pulling the blower motor out to replace it.

Once it’s out, they have to test just how dirty it is. After 300,000 miles and 13 years on the road, it’s pretty caked in dust and dirt and debris from inside the blower, which has started to come apart. Other than the dirt and debris, it’s completely intact, with no broken blade to be found. Since they think it can be rescued, Ross and Eric take the blower motor outside and blow the dust out with compressed air, and to say it’s disgusting is an understatement.

They head back inside and clean out the truck, too, using compressed air to chase the last bit of grime out from underneath the glovebox. Ross says that he’s more comfortable putting the old motor back in the pickup instead of buying an all new one, since the FoMoCo-built part is probably higher quality than anything produced now. Once it’s all put back together, they start it up, and now, it’s quiet as can be.

“She’s solid. What a solid truck,” Ross says, recounting the call that alerted him to the issue in the first place. Eric called him and only said that the 2013 Ford F-150 Raptor broke. Ross was ready to head out with a truck and trailer to rescue his cohort, but rolled his eyes when he found out that the only thing wrong with it was a noisy blower motor.
