Emelia Hartford Makes History With 2,000 HP Ford Mustang: Video

YouTube personality Emilia Hartford has a collection of unique builds, including several that are from The Blue Oval’s line. She’s known as the owner of a Ford-powered Shelby Daytona coupe replica acquired after the vehicle had been parked for five years. She nursed it back to health and promptly traded it back to its owner for a Ford GT40 replica. One of her latest projects is an insane 10L supercharged Ford Mustang, an overkill manual transmission muscle car built to break records on the dragstrip.

Video still of the supercharged Ford Mustang built by Emelia Hartford heading to the dragstrip. It gave its best performance yet after years of work.

Hartford and the crew ship the Ford Mustang to a drag strip to put in some much-needed work tuning it. It’s difficult for them to consistently work on it since they don’t have a track readily accessible to them, and get right to it, laying down some blistering passes and collecting valuable data. At least, until the engine quits.

Hartford says she watched the water temps skyrocket, so she elected to kill it instead of let the heat continue to climb. Track crews come to rescue the Mustang and return it to the pit area so they can take a look at things so they can address the issue before heading back out.

Other than the cooling issue, the Ford Mustang felt fantastic. After some work to rectify an electrical problem, Hartford heads back out and does a few more pulls. As expected, the 2,000-horsepower Ford Mustang is a nine-second car, finally pulling off a 9.8-second gallop down the strip.

“This thing beat us up for years,” Hartford said. “Now we finally got a 9.8. We finally got a single digit. It’s still a slow time, don’t get me wrong, but it feels good.”

While there’s still some kinks to iron out, Hartford says that she is insanely proud of the Ford Mustang. It’s time to load it up and call it a day, but Hartford says she’s looking forward to taking the Mustang to Florida to the attention of a friend who’s an expert in manual drag cars.
