Ex–Steve Saleen 2023 Ford Mustang Saleen SA-40 Speedster Up For Auction

Saleen and the Ford Mustang have been closely intertwined for decades to this point, with the company’s namesake – Steve Saleen – having turned his pony car passion into a business during its Fox Body era. Since then, Saleen has offered a bevy of parts, accessories, and completely gussied-up versions of the Mustang to enthusiasts, sending off the S550 generation with a very special one – the 2023 Ford Mustang Saleen SA-40 Speedster, a model limited to just 10 units. Now, one of those 10 is up for grabs.

This 2023 Ford Mustang Saleen SA-40 Speedster is currently being auctioned off over at Bring a Trailer, but it’s even more special than the rest, given the fact that it’s number 10 of 10 built, as well as the one that’s owned by Steve Saleen himself. As is the case with all SA-40 Speedsters, it’s finished in Speedlab Yellow paint, contrasted by white and black accents, unique bodywork and wheels, a newly designed tonneau cover with a dual hoop, 20-inch alloy wheels, and a carbon fiber-style bar.

Inside the cabin, the SA-40 features the 40^th anniversary Saleen interior package, along with Ebony leather seats sporting embroidered Saleen logos up front, the Bang & Olufsen audio system, adaptive cruise control, and automatic climate control. Power comes from a supercharged version of the 5.0L V8 Coyote engine that has been treated to a unique calibration, a high-volume intercooler, 47 pound injectors, a high-performance air filter, Saleen induction system, and a free-flowing exhaust, which helps it send 800 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels via the 10-speed automatic transmission.

It’s probably safe to assume that this very special Ford Mustang Saleen SA-40 Speedster will wind up hammering for more than its original sticker price of $156,472, but we’ll have to wait a bit longer to find out. In the meantime, Saleen offers a variety of other models these days, including the S650 302 Yellow Label, that won’t set one back quite as much.
