Those in the market for a nice Ford Explorer from the 1990s have had quite a few to choose from lately, as many well-kept, low-mile examples of that SUV continue to pop up for sale at various collector car auction sites. While these early Explorer sightings may or may not be an indication that values are set to skyrocket, they’re notable, nonetheless – especially for those that have been looking for such a thing. Now, those same folks can now bid on this clean 1993 Ford Explorer Limited, too, even though it isn’t exactly what one might call a “low-mile” find.
Rather, this 1993 Ford Explorer Limited – currently up for auction at Bring a Trailer – has at least 94k miles on the clock, and the odometer may have even rolled over as well. Regardless, we wouldn’t have guessed that given the condition it’s in, signaling that the SUV’s two previous owners took great care of it over the years. The white exterior paint looks to be in solid condition, and is accented by blue pinstriping, plus 15-inch split-spoke alloy wheels wrapped with Goodyear Wrangler tires.
Inside the cabin, one will find gray leather upholstery with power-adjustable front bucket seats that show a little normal wear, plus air conditioning, power windows and locks, cruise control, power windows and locks, a cassette stereo, and air conditioning. Power comes from the naturally-aspirated Ford 4.0L V6, which was factory-rated to produce 160 horsepower and is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission, a dual-range transfer case, and a limited-slip rear differential.
This is just the latest example of an earlier Ford Explorer that we’ve spotted on the collector car auction circuit – a list that also includes a 1991 XLT with a five-speed manual transmission, as well as a 1994 Ford Explorer Limited that had just 51k miles showing on the odometer when it surfaced for sale back in March.
