Ford Credit Ranked First In 2025 Canada Dealer Financing Study

Ford Credit – the automaker’s financing arm – has historically performed quite well in the J.D. Power Canada Dealer Financing Satisfaction Study, ranking first in 2022 with a score of 919 out of a possible 1,000 points, followed by a third-place finish in 2023 with a score of 793, and then first again in 2024 thanks to a score of 812. Now that the 2025 J.D. Power Canada Dealer Financing Satisfaction Study has been released, it reveals that Ford Credit has once again managed to outrank its fellow automotive lenders, too.

Ford Credit ranked first in the captive prime segment of this particular J.D. Power study, thanks to a score of 812 out of 1,000 – remaining perfectly flat compared to last year. That was good enough to beat out Hyundai Motor Finance (793), Honda Financial Services (775), Kia Finance (750), Toyota Financial Services (688), Nissan Canada Finance (673), and GM Financial (636), as well as the segment average of 751.

J.D. Power’s Canada Dealer Financing Satisfaction Study is designed to measure new-vehicle dealer satisfaction with their finance providers. This year’s study was derived from 5,974 finance provider evaluations from all from new-vehicle dealerships in Canada. Ultimately, it found that potential increases in the cost of borrowing and higher new-vehicle pricing pose significant challenges for lenders, in general. The top-performing lenders with the highest satisfaction scores in the study are more likely to get additional business from dealers compared to those in the middle as well, though nearly two-thirds believe they “definitely will” increase business over the next year if sales rep facilitation of contract and problem resolutions exceeded expectations.

“In the current economic climate, just meeting dealers’ expectations is no longer the catalyst for growth,” said Patrick Roosenberg, senior director of automotive finance intelligence at J.D. Power. “How a lender’s sales rep engages with their dealers in terms of responsiveness, ability to solve issues and communicate consistently has a significant effect on satisfaction, which eventually manifests itself in generating new business opportunities.”
