Following U.S. President Donald Trump’s move to impose 25 percent tariffs on imported automobiles in early April, automakers have been working to mitigate the impacts of those levies in various ways. Regardless, many have warned that these tariffs would ultimately prompt automakers to increase prices as a result, and thus far, The Blue Oval has done precisely that – albeit in a lesser way – on several of its imported models. Looking ahead, Ford also expects tariffs to result in a small price increase throughout Q2 as well.
“We now expect industry pricing related to tariffs (to increase) about 1 percent to 1.5 percent in the second half (of the year),” Ford CFO Sherry House revealed during the automaker’s Q1 2025 earnings call with investors. Despite this, Ford expects that it will suffer a net adverse adjusted EBIT impact of around $1.5 billion for the entirety of 2025 due to existing levies, and it opted to suspend its full year guidance at the same time with plans to provide an update during its Q2 earnings call.
As Ford Authority previously reported, The Blue Oval has increased the prices of three of its imported models sold in the U.S. as a response to these tariffs – the Ford Maverick, Ford Bronco Sport, and Ford Mustang Mach-E (all of which are assembled in Mexico), but not the Lincoln Nautilus, at least, for now. Price increases for the 2025 Mustang Mach-E will range from $1,500 up to $2,500, with the Bronco Sport increasing somewhere between $120-$1,510, and the Maverick is getting $645-$1,150 more expensive.
These price hikes will reportedly affect vehicles built after May 2nd, 2025, pertaining to units slated to arrive at dealers in late June. A Ford spokesperson noted that these increases reflect “usual” mid-year pricing actions, “combined with some tariffs we are facing. We have not passed on the full cost of tariffs to our customers.”
Closing the week at $10.43 per share.
