Ford Explorer Driver Makes Absolutely Terrible Left Turn: Video

One of the most dangerous traffic maneuvers, it seems, is making a left turn across oncoming lanes. Inattentive drivers seem to be incapable of actually checking to make sure they’re clear before taking a left turn, putting themselves right in the path of other motorists. That’s exactly what happened to the driver of one Ford Explorer, who made a questionable decision on a left-hander – and it could have gone a lot worse if the driver who recorded the near-crash hadn’t been paying attention.

Video still of the Ford Explorer taking off after almost hitting the cammer. The driver acted like the other vehicle was at fault.

The cammer ripped the video from their dashcam and posted it to the popular Reddit community r/IdiotsInCars, appropriately. The cammer is headed straight down a multilane highway while a Ford Explorer approaches an intersection headed the opposite direction. The driver clearly expects them to stop, but they don’t, and begin to make the dreaded left-hand turn right in front of them.

The cammer stands on the brake as the oblivious Ford Explorer driver continues to make their turn. The cammer doesn’t have a lot of time to react and ends up having to swerve to the right to avoid making contact – which they do, but only barely. In the comments, the original poster says that the Explorer’s driver threw their hands up like the cammer was at fault.

Odds are, they didn’t learn a thing, and are going to go around the rest of the day telling anyone who will listen how they almost got T-boned by an idiot without any inkling that they themselves were the idiot. Goes to show how invaluable a dashcam is when it comes to proving one’s innocence in a situation like this.

A different Ford Explorer pulled a stunt like this when they tried to take a left turn on a red light, cutting off an innocent bystander before continuing on their way. But at least they weren’t the driver of a Ford Mustang who lost complete control of their vehicle after making a simple let.
