The Ram 1500 REV debuted as an all-new Ford F-150 Lightning rival nearly two years ago, at which time Stellantis said that deliveries of the EV pickup were expected to begin in Q4 2024. However, the automaker later pushed that launch date back to the first half of 2025, and roughly a month later, delayed it until 2026. Now, it seems as if folks anxiously awaiting the arrival of the Ram 1500 REV will have to wait even longer, as Stellantis has apparently opted to push the expected launch date of its EV pickup back even further.
According to a supplier memo seen by Crain’s Detroit Business, production of the all-electric Ram 1500 REV has now been pushed back to the summer of 2027, and it’s slated to debut as a 2028 model year vehicle. However, it isn’t just the all-electric version of the Ram pickup that’s facing another delay – the plug-in hybrid Ram 1500 Ramcharger is also being pushed to Q1 2026 due to “extending the quality validation period,” according to Stellantis, which confirmed these moves in a statement.
“Stellantis continues to reassess its product strategy in North America to align it with our competitive advantage with the Range Extended Ram and in light of slowing consumer demand for half-ton BEV pickups,” said Stellantis spokeswoman Jodi Tinson. “Our plan ensures we are offering customers a range of trucks with flexible powertrain options that best meet their needs.”
As Ford Authority reported back in January, Stellantis previously opted to kill off the long range version of the Ram 1500 REV, which was expected to offer a best-in-class 500 miles of range thanks to its massive 229 kWh battery pack. That leaves the standard-range Ram 1500 REV as the sole offering, which will be sold with a 168 kWh battery pack that’s expected to deliver around 350 miles of range. Regardless, these moves come amid overall weak demand for EV pickups, prompting The Blue Oval opted to idle F-150 Lightning production at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center for seven weeks recently.

who didn’t see this coming. Dodge is rudderless. The best idea would have been to make a small Maverick style competitor. That would be good for them and they could get help making the hybrid to get used to electric. Now, big promise, big let down
“extending the quality validation period,” Read they have mega ton of problems they’re trying to fix.
Not unlike all the disappointing Ranger hybrid delays and then ultimate decision not to bring it to the U.S.
