Some owners just aren’t kind to their vehicles. It makes sense for a vehicle like the Ford Flex to be abused, since it’s a family hauler, leaving a mess for detailers to clean up before it can be sold. It’s also not uncommon for sportier and low production collector vehicles to be left to collect dirt, like a 1993 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra in desperate need of a wash. The Detail Geek on YouTube recently had a couple dirty Ford Mustang models end up in his bay – and they needed a ton of TLC to get back to fighting shape.
The first is a 1994 Ford Mustang, acquired at an estate sale after sitting for 12 years. The second is a 1969 Mustang that sat for 20 years inside a barn collecting all manner of disgusting refuse. The 1994 Mustang had a window busted out at some point, which needs to be taped off before the vehicle can be detailed in full. He makes sure to power wash even the most minute crevices, which often fill up with dirt while vehicles are parked.
Inside, the glass needs to be vacuumed up, as do leaves and a bunch of animal hair. Carpet cleaner is a must to bring the gorgeous red interior back to life. While it does need some more work and probably needs a complete repaint, the 1994 Ford Mustang is almost as good as new.
Then, he pulls the 1969 Ford Mustang into the bay and gets to work. This one needs some extra care because it lost a chunk of paint between being rescued from the barn and when it was brought into his shop. He hits it with the pressure washer, as gently as possible, then inspects the paint after it’s dry. Unfortunately, it fell victim to dozens of bird droppings throughout the years, which ate away at the paint.
Inside, he finds something interesting: an old watch that was lost under the seat. Setting that aside just in case the owner wants it back, he continues on, vacuuming and power washing the 1969 Ford Mustang within an inch of its life.
He finishes it off with a polish, and while there’s still some work to do, both Mustang models look worlds better than they did before they rolled into the bay.
Comment
That’s definitely NOT a 1994 mustang.
