A 2017 Lincoln Continental was pulled from certain death and rescued by the Build It Yourself team on YouTube. They had far bigger plans for the luxury sedan than simple restoration, though, and that meant making an absolute powerhouse out of it. They crafted a custom Ford V-10 engine and crammed it under the hood. Now that it finally runs and drives under its own power, it’s time to take the powerful luxury sedan to the dyno to find out what kind of figures it actually produces.
The Lincoln Continental still needs some finishing touches before it’s taken to the dyno for testing. Once it’s all buttoned up, the team lashes it to the back of a trailer and heads out. Along the way, they try to guess what its exact horsepower measurement will be, landing on over 530 at the wheels.
Once it’s loaded on the rollers, it’s time to go. The first pull produces approximately 450 horsepower and 397 pound-feet of torque, which is certainly nothing to sneeze at. Another test shows closer to 491 horsepower, so they give it a little fuel adjustment and get ready for one more run. The final answer is about 500 wheel horsepower, and that’s nothing to sneeze at.
Test aside, the V-10 swapped Lincoln Continental sounds absolutely incredible. They discover a minor problem, though. The Continental needs more fuel pressure if they want to max out its power. Once they hit about 6,000 RPM, the fuel pressure starts to fall off, limiting the full potential of the massive engine. They still think that 700 crank horsepower is possible, but there’s some work that needs done first.
Since the fuel system needs a reevaluation, the crew packs up and heads out. After regrouping, they discuss the findings of the dyno test. The V-10 swapped Lincoln Continental produced 495 horsepower at 6,700 RPM. They were able to rev it to 7,110, and are insanely proud of their progress because the engine didn’t grenade when pushed. In fact, they’re convinced that they’ve built the highest-revving V-10, one that’s on par with modern supercars.

I’ve been watching this build for a while and these guys are true hot rodders in every sense of the term.
