Ford Vice Chair John Lawler Says Pro Very Profitable In Europe

It’s no secret that Ford has faced its fair share of challenges in Europe – specifically, weak demand for its passenger cars and electric vehicles, for the most part. However, The Blue Oval also benefits from a robust Ford Pro commercial business in that same region, with its vans proving to be best-sellers, month after month, year after year, coupled with a full suite of services and software designed to make life easier for fleets. Recently, Ford Vice Chair John Lawler touched on this particular subject, revealing that the automaker’s Ford Pro business in Europe is rather profitable as well.

The European Ford Pro lineup.

“Yeah. The business in Europe’s very profitable,” Lawler said at the Bank of America Securities 2025 Automotive Summit. “We’re a leader, segment leader in vans. It’s growing. It’s a little bit of a different business. We don’t see the uptake as much on the software in Europe as we do in the United States. So, it’s a little bit of a different approach with the customers there, but it’s a great business for us.”

“And what we’re figuring out similar to what we’re doing here in Europe, it’s not only the form factor, it’s the choice that we give our customers between multi-energy, full ICE, and electrification options. But the service is important. The uptime is important, as well as how we’re approaching with them the life cycle. So many of the things that we have here in the U.S. that we’ve talked about, they apply in Europe.”

Ford Pro Europe Ultimate Pro Campaign

As Ford Authority reported last December, Ford Europe plans to expand its commercial-focused Pro division in that region, all while “right-sizing” its passenger vehicle business to meet declining demand. “We are committed to the European market, and actually we want to double down on the Ford Pro business,” said Hans Schep, general manager for Ford Pro in Europe at that time. Its lineup also continues to expand, recently to include an array of fully electric options, too.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
