FordPass, Lincoln Way Apps Gain Software Update Scheduling

As is usually the case with most mobile applications, the FordPass and Lincoln Way apps are constantly being updated with new features and bug fixes, and we’ve seen quite a few of them drop as of late. While these types of changes aren’t always welcomed by users with open arms, they oftentimes bring about some positive changes, regardless. Now, FordPass and Lincoln Way are set to gain yet another new feature – software update scheduling – which could prove to be quite convenient.

“Super excited about the rollout of our latest app update. Now, Ford and Lincoln customers will be able to set up or change their software update schedule right from the FordPass or Lincoln Way app,” Alex Purdy, Ford’s Global Head of Digital Product and Integrated Services, revealed via LinkedIn. “Just like your smartphone, we deliver enhancements and new features via software updates straight to the vehicle to help improve overall quality and the user experience. It is super important customers have software updates scheduled because it helps ensure software updates are sent to the vehicle as they become available. Now, it will be even easier to set this up or change the schedule.”

“We are delivering software updates across 20 Ford and Lincoln vehicle lines – gasoline, hybrid and electric powered vehicles – that are equipped with SYNC 4, SYNC4A and the Ford and Lincoln Digital Experience. The app feature is available for select model year vehicles eligible for software updates. To check if your vehicle is eligible for software updates, you can go to the FordPass/Lincoln Way app > Settings > Software Updates. You will see the feature there if your vehicle is eligible. Shout out to the cross-functional team who helped roll this out!”

This is just one of several recent FordPass updates that we’ve seen roll out, including the addition of that app, in general, for owners of Google’s WearOS watches. Earlier this year, Apple iOS users also gained the ability to use the FordPass widget in standby mode, and in February, the app became compatible with Dark Mode and gave users the ability to give their friends and/or family access to their vehicles via the app as well, without them having to request it first.

  1. Appreciate the info in this article. Lincoln Way app has recently updated several times and after reading this article, I see that our ‘25 Nautilus has performed an OTA update in
Lincoln Digital Experience. I enabled update scheduling in the app. Gone are the days of downloading to thumb drives and wasting gas to install SYNC updates. Hallelujah!
