FordPass Ranked Fourth In 2025 U.S. OEM App Report

Over the past couple of years, Ford’s mobile app – FordPass – has improved its ranking in the annual J.D. Power U.S. OEM EV App Report, coming in fifth among all apps with a score of 809 out of a possible 1,000 points in 2023, after which it moved up to third place among all mass market branded apps with a slightly better score of 810 last year. Now that the 2025 J.D. Power U.S. OEM EV App Report has been released, it reveals that FordPass remains one of the top-rated automotive brand mobile apps on the market, but did slip just a tad compared to last year’s result.

This year, FordPass ranked fourth among all mass market automotive brand apps with a score of 794, placing it behind MyHyundai (820), Kia Access (808), and Mini (797), but also above the rest of the pack, plus the overall segment average of 712. This particular study is designed to gauge the experience EV owners have with their brand’s mobile app, based on surveys conducted with those customers and an assessment of the apps. The results are based on a standardized assessment approach that relies on over 350 best practices for vehicle apps that include more than 70 EV-specific attributes.

This year’s U.S. OEM EV App Report surveyed 1,966 EV owners in the U.S. to gather insights on app usage, feature desirability, and app execution. Overall, it found that EV app usage continues to increase, but user satisfaction also continues to suffer from things like connectivity issues, slow remote command speed, and inconsistent feature performance, though owners expect these apps to perform flawlessly.

“EV owners are telling J.D. Power exactly what they need: reliable performance and connectivity to interact with their vehicles,” said Violet Allmandinger, mobile apps lead at J.D. Power. “Top-performing apps deliver fast, consistent remote controls and have desired features. However, most other apps are still closing that gap.”

  1. This survey is flawed bigtime. I used FordPass for years, it worked maybe 60%of the time and had very basic features. I currently use My Chevrolet and its flawless works 99% of the time. I would like to suggest this polling was done with people who barely use the features.
