Former Ford Employee Arrested For Running Parts Theft Ring

Theft is a persistent issue in the automotive world, and it’s not just vehicles that go missing. Four men were recently arrested in Dearborn, Michigan, in connection with a criminal enterprise dealing in stolen automotive parts, and one of them was formerly employed by Ford.

The arrests happened on Tuesday, May 6th, 2025, the product of months of investigation. Local police, with the help of Ford Motor Company Global Security, nabbed the four men at the forefront of the criminal enterprise in connection with the theft and illegal distribution of genuine Ford auto parts.

During the investigation, the Dearborn Police Department discovered that a Ford employee may be in connection with the case. Said employee was believed to be stealing Ford parts and distributing them to a business in Detroit, where the parts were then sold.

Search warrants were served to residences in Dearborn and Canton, along with two businesses in Detroit. As of this writing, the identities of the involved individuals has not been release pending official charges from the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office. Additional details regarding the investigation are also being withheld at this time.

“These arrests were made possible through the diligent and sophisticated work of our investigative units and with the help and cooperation of the Ford Motor Company Global Security,” said Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin in a statement. “Such criminal plots will not be tolerated in Dearborn and we will employ all resources to bring them down.”

While Ford parts were the stolen property in this case, recently, the FBI managed to track down a different crew of thieves responsible for stealing a number of vehicles, including a 2022 Ford F-150 from Roush. A couple would-be thieves tried to make off with some Ford F-150 Raptor pickups last year but ended up ditching them, quite literally, after trying and failing to clear a small drainage channel. Before that, a string of Ford Mustang thefts raised suspicions that they were possibly being carried out from the inside.
