Forza 6 Ford GT Cover Car Is Being Auctioned Off For Charity

Quite a few Blue Oval models have appeared in video games over the years, and that includes the Forza series, which has starred many of them on its own accord. Many undoubtedly remember the 2017 Ford GT ’66 Heritage Edition that graced the cover of Forza Motorsport 6 back in 2015, a car that was purchased new by Alan Hartman, then-studio manager of Turn 10 Studios, maker of the Forza racing video game series. Now, that same famous Ford GT is being auctioned off, with all of the proceeds going to benefit a worthy charity.

This 2017 Ford GT ’66 Heritage Edition is up for grabs at Bring a Trailer as just one of 27 such examples produced in total, each of which was designed to pay homage to the GT40 Mk II that Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon drove at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966. The car only has 2,500 miles on the clock, as it has spent much of the last seven years or so on display in the Turn 10 Studios office in Redmond, Washington, too.

Finished in Shadow Black with Ingot Silver stripes, the special Ford GT is also equipped with the Heritage Roundel Graphics package (a $20,000 option), matte carbon-fiber exterior trim, titanium lug nuts, a front-axle lift system, 20-inch Satin Bronze forged wheels, and Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes. Inside, one will find a Dark Energy interior with black leather Sparco seats, blue seatbelts, Heritage door panel roundels, and Heritage Gold accents. Power comes from the twin-turbocharged 3.5L V6 EcoBoost, factory-rated to produce 647 horsepower and 550  pound-feet of torque.

All of the proceeds from the sale of this famous Ford GT will be donated to SpecialEffect, a UK-based charity that aims to transform the lives of physically disabled people through the innovative use of technology. It’s just the latest of many examples that have hit the auction block and garnered tons of interest – and bids – however. That list also includes another ’66 Heritage Edition that has been auctioned off twice in the past couple of years, as well as a non-road-legal MK IV.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
