Tyler Hoover – purveyor of the popular YouTube channel Hoovie’s Garage – has owned his fair share of Ford models over the years, many of which he purchased for cheap and proceeded to have his mechanic repair. That list includes a variety of Blue Oval rides including a super cheap Ford Excursion with 220k miles, a 2014 Ford F-150 Raptor with 300k miles, and a 210k-mile 2008 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, to name just a few. Now, Hoover has added yet another model from FoMoCo’s past to his large collection – a Lincoln Town Car.
In this recent video, Hoover outlines his latest purchase, which is effectively replacing the 2021 Tesla Model S Plaid that he purchased around four months ago for a mere $48,000. Despite the fact that the Model S Plaid touts over 1,000 horsepower, Hoover simply wasn’t too terribly thrilled about it, calling it “boring” and noting that he just wasn’t interested in driving it every day. Thus, he looked for a suitable replacement that he could purchase without having to spend a bunch of money.
Hoover wound up getting $44,000 on the Model S, losing a few thousand over the course of a few months of ownership. He then set out to find an “old school” luxury vehicle of some sort, and he found it at a local Ford dealer in the form of a 2010 Lincoln Town Car. That big, cushy sedan was traded in by a senior coupe that has a couple of typical scuff marks on the outside, but it’s otherwise in great condition with a very reasonable 72k miles on the clock.
Despite that, the dealer is only asking a mere $7,500 for this nicely kept Lincoln Town Car, which seems like a great deal given the fact that we’ve seen several of them cross the auction block and hammer for solid money in recent months. Better yet, Hoover is pretty excited to be behind the wheel of a large, luxurious, American sedan, which is a bit more satisfying for him than his old 1,000 horsepower EV.
