James Deane is a master of drifting. Famous for slinging his Ford Mustang around in Formula Drift, Deane was the man who took The Blue Oval to the 2024 championship in the division, and he’s slated to do the same this year while competing in Europe, too. After winning last year’s Formula Drift championship, Deane found himself the recipient of a very special Blue Oval vehicle, compliments of the automaker itself: his very own Ford Mustang RTR Spec 2.
In a post on social media, Deane said that he’s thrilled to be a part of The Blue Oval’s racing stable, and even more thrilled at the prospect of driving the Ford Mustang RTR Spec 2 around as his daily. The muscle car is finished in Grabber Blue, a flashy color for a flashy driver. He also says the pony is his first new street vehicle in Ireland, and that “it’s a dream and so much fun to drive.”
“Massive thanks to Ford Performance, [RTR’s] Vaughn Gittin Jr., RTR Vehicles, and the entire Ford family for the opportunity to chase my dream and drive professionally under such an iconic banner,” Deane said. “I’m beyond proud. I’m beyond grateful and ready for whatever comes next.”
The Ford Mustang RTR Spec 2 features a unique upper grille to set it apart from the herd, coupled with LED-rimmed air intakes, numerous RTR-exclusive aesthetics, and a generous list of performance upgrades like the shock mount kit, Tactical Performance suspension components, and more. It’s fitted with a set of staggered wheels wrapped in Nitto NT555 G2 tires, along with RTR badging so there’s no mistaking its heritage.

There are also quite a few optional upgrades offered on the Mustang RTR Spec 2. Buyers can opt for a leather interior, puddle lamps, pedal covers for automatic variants, and an X-Pipe exhaust upgrade. For reference, the Ford Mustang RTR Spec 2 is priced at $17,995 above the cost of the base vehicle, which is the Ford Mustang GT.
