Mercury Mariner Smashed Into During Traffic Stop: Video

Vehicle-involved accidents are quite common in today’s world, and in fact, we see them happen on a daily basis – some more severe than others. Given the fact that Ford Motor Company has sold quite a few vehicles in its century-plus of existence, it’s no surprise that many of those accidents involve Blue Oval models of all sorts. As is typically the case, most of these accidents are what one might classify as avoidable, and that was certainly true of this wild crash involving a Mercury Mariner that was sitting on the side of the road when disaster struck.

In this video recently posted on Instagram, we get a good view of this wild and scary crash via a police officer’s dash camera. The officer has pulled over the driver of the Mercury Mariner for reasons unknown, and is clearly taking the “safe” route by approaching the driver on the passenger side as a way to keep some distance from himself and vehicles traveling down the adjacent road. Unfortunately for him, that doesn’t stop a vehicle from smashing into the SUV, however.

Rather, as we see happen far to often these days, the driver of another vehicle clearly doesn’t see the Mariner – or, at least, until it’s too late – and smashes into the rear driver’s side portion of the SUV with tremendous force, sending it moving in the other direction in truly violent fashion. This impact also sends the police officer flying out of view of the camera, and we see the Mariner come to a stop completely off the shoulder.

It’s unclear if the officer or the occupant of the Mercury Mariner in this video were injured, but we at least hope that if they were, it wasn’t anything too serious. If nothing else, this certainly serves as a reminder that it’s important to slow down and move over when folks are parked on the side of the road – whether that be due to a mechanical issue or the presence of a first responder.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
