Ford stock hasn’t exactly been receiving the rosiest of outlooks from investment firms over the past few months, which is true of most automotive shares these days. That negativity stems from a variety of concerns including tariffs and how they’ll affect costs, soaring warranty costs stemming from quality woes that first surfaced years ago, and uncertainties surrounding the economy and regulatory environment, in general. However, some analysts have begun changing their outlooks on Ford stock to be a bit more positive as of late, though that doesn’t include Wells Fargo, it seems.
According to Insider Monkey, Wells Fargo has opted to maintain its “Sell” rating on Ford stock for the time being, while setting a price target of $10 for those shares. The reasoning behind this decision stems from the automaker’s Q1 2025 financial results, which revealed that FoMoCo’s revenue dropped by five percent compared to Q1 2024, along with a notable drop in net profit. Additionally, Ford announced that it would be suspending its full-year guidance until Q2 due to uncertainties pertaining to tariffs.
Despite all of this, there are a few investment firms out there that feel like Ford stock could be a potentially good buy at the moment. That includes Wolfe Research, which adjusted its rating on Ford stock upward, from Underperform to Peer Perform earlier this month, indicating that it believes those shares are undervalued. Wolfe Research cited Ford’s lesser exposure to tariff risk as part of its reasoning for the upgrade, especially when compared to its rivals, which rely more on production in other countries for the domestic market.
As Ford Authority reported earlier this month, the average target price for Ford stock at that time was valued a bit under its actual price – 8.26 percent – but also, 11.36 percent higher than the current price when looking a year out, which signals that investors have a rosier long-term outlook.
