1991 Ford Taurus GL Wagon Up For Auction

The first-gen Ford Taurus wagon is an ambling remnant of decades past, and it’s become a bit of a cult classic in recent years. While many commuter wagons were likely driven into the ground, a few unicorns are still out there with relatively few miles driven, given their age. For example, take this 1987 Taurus LX wagon that went underground for a few years before popping up for sale again, or a 1991 Taurus wagon in pretty damn good shape that crossed the auction block a few years ago. There’s good news for early ’90s car enthusiasts, though – another 1991 Ford Taurus wagon is currently looking for its next home.

A side view of the 1991 Ford Taurus GL wagon for sale. It's showing just 77,000 miles on the odometer.

Offered on Bring a Trailer, this 1991 Ford Taurus is painted in Titanium Frost Clearcoat Metallic, a subtle hue that toes the line between champagne and true silver, complimented by black trim. The odometer is showing just 77,000 miles, and exterior appointments include a roof rack, window rain guards, and a heated rear window – although the seller notes that the rear wiper is currently inoperable. The taillight lens is also damaged, as is the rear bumper.

Cross-spoke 15-inch cast aluminum wheels reside in all four corners, situated in front of MacPhearson struts, front disc brakes, and rear drum brakes. Inside, the 1991 Ford Taurus wagon can carry an impressive eight passengers thanks to its dual bench seats, which are trimmed in Titanium cloth and gray vinyl. Features include cruise control, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and an AM/FM/cassette stereo. The seller states that the front speakers and rear windows are currently not functioning.

Under the hood, this 1991 Ford Taurus harnesses the 3.8L V6, capable of 140 horsepower and 215 pound-feet of torque when new. Power is delivered to the front wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission. This particular Taurus is a bit of an odd duck, as the original owner opted to order the 3.8L on the GL trim and also spring for the 15-inch aluminum wheels, which were far more typically featured on the LX, not the mid-grade GL.

At the time of this writing, the high bid is just $1,500, but despite its flaws, this 1991 Ford Taurus GL wagon could be a great collectible for a Taurus enthusiast or a decent backup vehicle for a household.
