2003 Ford Excursion Auction Will Likely Spark Bidding War

The Ford Excursion was a short-lived experiment by The Blue Oval, but while its time in production was cut short, the massive SUV has since become a bit of a cult classic. Like other heavy pickups, the Excursion is often used and abused as a workhorse, although some low-mileage examples surface every now and then – and when they do, they sometimes start a bidding war. Take this 2005 Excursion, which raked in an astounding $70,500. A different example – a 2003 Ford Excursion – is now up for grabs, and we wouldn’t be surprised if it fetches far more than its brethren when the hammer finally falls.

Offered up for grabs on Bring a Trailer, this 2003 Ford Excursion shows just 43,000 miles on the clock. It’s finished in earthy Estate Green Metallic over a brown and tan leather interior, riding on 16-inch alloy wheels positioned in all four corners. The duotone exterior is complemented by bronze decorating the lower doors and wheel arches, and notable exterior appointments include parking sensors, fog lights, running boards, roof rails, tinted windows, a receiver hitch, and a handy split tailgate. The seller notes that there are minor paint chips present on the right rear split tailgate and rear bumper.

Inside, the 2003 Ford Excursion boasts power adjustable front bucket seats and a split-folding rear bench. Woodgrain trim accents the door panels, while a six-disc CD changer, power adjustable pedals, and rear-seat climate controls help keep passengers comfortable and entertained. While it is fitted with a rear seat entertainment system, the addition is an aftermarket kit, and is inoperable at this time.

The biggest draw for this 2003 Ford Excursion is the 7.3L Power Stroke turbodiesel V8 lashed under the hood. That powerhouse was rated for 250 horsepower and 525 pound-feet of torque when new, and the seller states that both of its batteries were recently replaced, as were fluids. Power is routed to the rear two or all four wheels via its four-speed automatic transmission, dual-range transfer case, and limited-slip rear differential.

At the time of this writing, the high bid is a whopping $55,555 – but we fully expect it to exceed the $70,500 price raked in by the 2005 Excursion mentioned above. Buyers have until June 16th, 2025 to lay down a winning bid.

  1. With demand this high for a product Ford built 20 years ago, why don’t they take a solid hint and build more? If used ones are going for $70K+, then Ford easily has a potentially $100k+ vehicle to sell. If only someone at Ford would WAKE UP!

    1. Because Farley is just that dumb.

  2. These vehicles were made before the era of Failure Farley. Ford Motor Company was the crown jewel of the big 3 back then, should this vehicle be built today, given quality control issues Ford Motor Company has, it would be recalled, how many times? once? maybe twice?maybe it will be recalled to repair a previous recall which is common today under Failure Farley.

  3. There was ever a clearer sign that Ford needs to bring this back here it is Farley.
