The Ford Mustang is currently celebrating 60 years since its launch with a special edition package, but as one might imagine, there have been many milestones along that same path. That includes the 2004 Ford Mustang 40th Anniversary Edition, which came along just in time for the final iteration of the SN95 generation model, and just before the debut of the S197 pony car in 2005. It was produced in limited quantities and chock full of unique features in most departments, and now, this nice example is up for auction.
This 2004 Ford Mustang GT 40th Anniversary Edition is being auctioned off over at Hagerty with just 5,505 miles on the clock, and as such, it remains in excellent condition as one of around 7,700 produced in total. It’s finished in Crimson Red, which was exclusive to the model, coupled with a Deluxe Parchment cloth convertible top, stripes, Arizona Beige painted 17-inch alloy wheels, and anniversary fender emblems and decklid badges. There’s only one singular flaw on the outside of this pony car, too – a small dent at the bottom of the driver’s side door.
On the inside, those unique details continue with anniversary floor mats, coupled with Medium Parchment Leather upholstered seats with anniversary logos embossed up front. The 2004 Ford Mustang anniversary package was available in both coupe and convertible form and with the 3.8L V6 or 4.6L V8, but in this case, we’re looking at a drop top GT with the more potent powerplant, mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
It isn’t often that we come across a 2004 Ford Mustang anniversary model of any type and in any condition, but we do see our fair share of nice SN95 generation pony cars surface for sale on a regular basis. That includes another, non-anniversary 2004 Ford Mustang GT that popped up with a mere 4k miles on the clock a few months ago, too.
