2005 Ford GT Formerly Owned By Meguiar’s President Once Again Up For Auction

Already a rare vehicle in its own right, the 2005 Ford GT can become even more noteworthy when tied to a high-profile owner. For example, a Ford GT in full Le Mans-inspired livery, formerly owned by hockey legend Wayne Gretsky, fetched $830,000 when it sold just last week. Another Ford GT – this time a 2005 model year sportscar once owned by shine king Barry Maguiar, President of Meguiar’s Inc. – is currently for sale yet again, and it’s already poised to rake in the dough.

Offered up on Bring a Trailer, this 2005 Ford GT most recently sold in 2023, when it was acquired by the seller, whose $379,000 bid won the auction. The sportscar is one of 2,022 built for the 2005 model year and is a rare example that does not feature a top stripe. It’s finished in Mark II Black over Ebony upholstery, giving it a sinister expression. The side stripes have been removed, but it still sports Ford GT graphics, HID headlights, fog lights, side air intakes, a vented hood, a front splitter, a rear diffuser, and a dual exhaust system.

This 2005 Ford GT rolls on a set of BBS forged lightweight aluminum wheels, size 18-inch up front and 19-inch in the rear, situated in front of a Brembo braking system with drilled and ventilated rotors. It wears a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires with a 2015 date code.

Inside, the blacked-out interior features rubber mats over a bare aluminum floor. Its manually adjustable seats are designed by Sparco, cradling passengers in a carbon fiber shell. Rotary climate controls are situated atop the center console. Amenities also include a McIntosh CD Stereo and air conditioning.

Power comes from the borderline overkill supercharged Ford 5.4L V8, which was factory rated for 550 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque, routed to the rear two wheels via a six-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential. The seller states that it has 5,700 miles racked up, approximately 900 of which were added under current ownership.

At the time of this writing, the high bid is $426,000 – already exceeding what the current buyer paid in 2023. The auction will close on June 14th, 2025.
