Many enthusiasts weren’t terribly pleased with the fact that the second-generation Ford F-150 Raptor ditched the V8 power present in the original, replacing it with the twin-turbocharged 3.5L V6 EcoBoost. Though it’s a capable powerplant, the EcoBoost just doesn’t churn out the same growl that V8 fans are accustomed to, and as such, more than one aftermarket outfit set out to offer an alternative. One of them was Hennessey Performance and its Ford F-150 VelociRaptor V8, and now, this 2018 model year example of that fortified pickup is up for auction.
This 2018 Ford F-150 Hennessey VelociRaptor V8 is up for grabs over at Cars & Bids with a mere 18,500 miles on the clock, and it’s in nice shape with just some normal wear on the interior touch points. The beefed up pickup is finished in Oxford White and equipped with modifications including a four-inch lift kit, 20-inch Hennessey wheels wrapped with 37-inch Toyo off-road tires, VelociRaptor bumpers, LED lighting, a Retrax cover, AMP Research power side steps, and of course, plenty of Hennessey and VelociRaptor badging.
Inside, one will find a black interior that’s equipped with the optional Carbon Fiber Package, Raptor Technology Package, twin-panel moonroof, heated and ventilated front seats, and Equipment Group 802A – which added the 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, heated steering wheel, LED box lighting, Pro Trailer Backup Assist technology, remote start system, and B&O sound system.
Power for this Ford F-150 VelociRaptor comes not from a V6, but rather, the 5.0L V8 Coyote engine that’s been upgraded with a 2.9L supercharger kit, an air-to-water intercooler, a high-flow induction system, larger fuel injectors, a beefier fuel system, a new calibration, and Borla exhaust. That combo was originally rated to produce 758 horsepower at the crank, or 598 horsepower and 512 pound-feet of torque at the wheels, while a Brembo brake kit helps slow it down. It’s a cool combo for sure, and in this case, someone might score a bit of a discount depending on how many bidders it attracts.
