Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning trucks due to a safety issue with the tire pressure monitoring system.
The defect: in affected vehicles, the tire pressure monitoring system light may not activate when intended, therefore rendering itself unable to notify owners when tire pressure is too low. The affected pickups were reported to have been updated software from recall 22C15 completed, but did not receive the remedy, meaning the underlying issue could still be present.
The hazards: a vehicle that cannot adequately inform an owner of low tire pressure could possibly exhibit poor handling, leading to a loss of control, leading to the risk of a crash.
Ford is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries related to this condition.
Components: Body Control Module.
Affected vehicles: select 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning trucks with 20-inch or 22-inch tires built at the Ford Rouge Electric Vehicle Center between January 25th and May 24th, 2022.
Number of vehicles affected: 192 pickups.
The fix: dealers will install a software update to fix the issue.
Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin June 23rd, 2025. Owners are encouraged to make sure their tire pressure matches the figures provided on the Tire and Loading information label located inside the driver-side front door jamb.
