2023-2025 Ford, Lincoln Models Recalled Over Engine Block Heater

Ford is recalling select 2024-2025 Lincoln Nautilus, 2023-2025 Ford Escape, 2023 Lincoln Corsair, 2025 Corsair, Ford Maverick, and Ford Bronco Sport vehicles equipped with the 1.5L or 2.0L MPC engine and an engine block heater due to an overheating issue.

The problem: in affected vehicles, the engine block heater may overheat when the vehicle is parked with the block heater plugged in.

The hazards: an overheated engine block heater can increase the risk of a fire.

Ford is not aware of any reports of accident or injury related to this condition.

Affected vehicles: select 2024-2025 Nautilus produced between April 13th, 2023, and May 15th, 2025, 2023-2025 Escape crossovers built from June 29th, 2022, to May 7th, 2025, 2023 Corsair models produced between July 1st, 2022, and October 4th, 2023, 2025 Corsair models built from July 29th, 2024, and May 7th, 2025, 2025 Maverick pickups built between April 11th, 2024, and May 7th, 2025, , and 2025 Bronco Sport crossovers produced between May 7th, 2024, and May 7th, 2025.

Number of affected vehicles: 6,781

The fix: dealers will replace the engine block heater element and inspect the electrical cord, replacing it if necessary, free of charge.

Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which are expected to begin on June 6th, 2025. Second letters will be mailed once the remedy is available, anticipated for Q4 2025. Ford’s reference number for this recall is 25S52.
