2025 Ford F-150 Lobo Features Reduced Towing And Payload Ratings

The all-new 2025 Ford F-150 Lobo debuted last week as a street performance-styled pickup based on the STX trim, though it’s largely an appearance package of sorts. However, the new F-150 Lobo does feature a revised suspension that lowers the rear of the truck by two inches, giving it a sportier look when coupled with various unique pieces of bodywork. As one might imagine, that particular feature doesn’t exactly help out in terms of payload and towing capacity, even if it does improve the looks.

2025 Ford F-150 STX vs. Lobo Max Towing And Payload Ratings
2025 Ford F-150 STX 2025 Ford F-150 Lobo
Max Towing (pounds) 9,300 7,900
Max Payload (pounds) 2,025 1,450

Ford Authority reached out to Dawn Mckenzie, Ford Truck Communications Manager, to confirm the max payload and towing capacity of the new Ford F-150 Lobo, which comes in at 1,450 and 7,900 pounds, respectively. That payload figure is 575 pounds less than the four-wheel drive F-150 STX when equipped with the 3.31 rear axle ratio and no Tow/Haul package, as well as 1,400 pounds less than that model’s max towing rating, to boot.

While some may find the reduced payload and towing capabilities of the Ford F-150 Lobo to be a bit of a concern, it’s worth remembering that this particular model is designed more for street performance and looks rather than outright capability, which is precisely why there are so many different trims and configurations in the existing F-150 lineup already. Those that find these figures a bit too low can always simply opt for the also-quite-sporty STX, or any number of other trims that offer superior hauling and towing capabilities.

Along with its lowered suspension, the new F-150 Lobo features a 10-piece ground appearance package, a cowl hood, unique headlamps and taillamps, the standard 5.0L V8 Coyote engine making 400 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque, and a host of blacked-out exterior elements, including the hood vents, exhaust, and badging, plus 22-inch gloss-black wheels.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
