Charli XCX Fans Flipping Ford Logo Backwards

Almost every Ford on the road carries the unmistakable Blue Oval on its grille – symbol so iconic, it can be spotted from a mile away. While that blue oval clearly spells out “Ford,” fans of artist Charli XCX have gotten creative. They’ve flipped the logo to create an unofficial emblem representing their community.

As per a report from Creative Bloq, a Charli XCX fan posted a video on social media showing off the reversed logo on the tailgate of her Ford pickup. The logo, when flipped around, appears to spell out “brat,” which is the title of Charli XCX’s 2024 album and a rallying cry among her fanbase.

We’ll break it down, since getting “brat” from “Ford” might be a little bit of a stretch: the “d” in Ford looks like a “b” when reversed; the “r” is apparently still an “r” regardless of which way it’s turned; the “o” could be considered an “a” when viewed from a certain angle; and the big looping “F” bears a passing resemblance to a capital “T” backward.

Charli XCX fans have taken that reversed Blue Oval and run with it. The artist coined a new definition for the word brat, which in popular culture, represents someone who is rebellious, hold, and defiant. Being called a brat in that context is more of a compliment than an insult. However, in a post on Reddit, some users point out that driving a Ford might be as far from brat as one can get, so not everyone agrees on the recent trend.

“Oh I see it,” one user commented. “But I’m afraid, Ford is the least brat automobile out there.”

The Ford logo has also been the subject of a minor online curiosity that went viral recently. Some people apparently failed to realize that the script always had the little curlicue on the F. That’s always been there, a holdover from former letterpress printer C. Harold Wills, who designed that iconic Ford logo in the early 1900s.

  1. I can’t believe Ford would desecrate the blue oval with a “CHEAP.” plastic molded badge. It reminds me of a hot stamped part from Toys Are Us!
