Come On People, 2026 Ford Fusion Not Happening: AI Slop Report

The Ford Fusion is dead and there are absolutely no plans to resurrect it. And yet, if one punches “2026 Ford Fusion” into Google, they’ll get bombarded with results from Gemini AI suggesting that the sedan is making a comeback. Ford Authority is here to set the record straight. There’s no such thing as the 2026 Fusion, no matter what AI would have you believe.

Anyone with the right words can prompt AI image creators to draft up just about anything, and that includes the 2026 Ford Fusion. Unfortunately, gullible internet users who aren’t tech-savvy enough to recognize when something is AI-generated are easily fooled by the photos and videos these content-farming liars drum up.

Gemini AI, which is the assistant built into Google, also doesn’t know how to differentiate between these fake reports and what’s real. Gemini says that there’s content out there that “suggests a potential return or reimagining of the Fusion for 2026, perhaps as a crossover-like wagon similar to the Subaru Outback or a model with hybrid and plug-in hybrid options,” and, vaguely, that it will “feature a modernized design, advanced technology like a large LED dashboard and digital cockpit, and safety features under the Ford Co-Pilot360 umbrella.”

There’s no 2026 Ford Fusion in the pipeline. The sedan is dead, and it will stay dead. In short, AI content is fooling AI assistants. It’s a vicious cycle. Hell, we here at Ford Authority proved that Gemini AI will fall for just about anything – we cooked up a make-believe 2026 Ford Escape Raptor (rendered by actual humans, not AI, mind you) for our annual April Fool’s joke on our readers. Gemini obviously skimmed our story and treated it as fact, presenting it as such to anyone who searched for “Escape Raptor.”

In case you needed further proof that Gemini AI is full of it, the assistant tried to tell users that the Ford Escape was getting a midcycle refresh, which it most definitely is not. AI was also used to fool unsuspecting parties into thinking that Elon Musk had acquired Ford and that the Ford F-100 was making a comeback as a modernized version of the classic pickup.

The only hint that a sedan could be in the pipeline came from some information about the upcoming low cost EV platform. Apparently, it will support up to eight body styles, including a sedan. But there are no plans right now for anything other than the midsize pickup due to arrive some time in 2027.

  • As long as Farley is Ford CEO, better don´t produce cars based on great names. If the Fusion is going to be another atrocity like the Capri or the Mach-e, better leave the name alone and don´t produce anything. I owe a Mustang and a 1995 Ford Scorpio Cosworth but I stop buying Ford products the day they cancelled the sedans. And I will not buy another Ford product until they build a sedan again. Not every body like SUV´s or crossovers or is willing to buy one no matter what.

    • My first Ford product was a 1987 Mercury Cougar 20th Anniversary (new), then 1986 Mercury Grand Marquis LS (used), then 1993 Mercury Grand Marquis LS (new), then 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis LSE (new) and last 2004 Mercury Marauder (new). Then Failure Farley's predecessor whom I called "the inexperienced unqualified furniture guy" decided to discontinue sedans after the 2020 MY, now I own a 2018 Dodge GT Plus (new) and a 2022 Chrysler 300S 5.7L (new) and have no regrets. I'm not expecting a Ford sedan in the near future as long as Failure (no quality control) Farley is in charge of Ford.

  • I block every car ad that's AI. I am sick and tired of it. Just like I am sick and tired of Farley destroying Ford.

  • Of course Ford won't offer a new Fusion in the US......that would be something customers would actually want🙄

  • Ford is going to produce what Farley wants, whether it sells or not. He is the grand Poobah of car needs and has the brilliance to know we are all stupid buying the cars we drive - he said so a few months ago. So he had decided to kill off the cars we like so we can't have them.

Well now people are going to competitors to get what they want. Joke's on you, buddy. Too bad you're going to take the whole company down with you.

  • Come on FoMoCo, get with it, we don't want all these gas guzzling SUVs. They're ugly and boring. We need more than one affordable performance coup or sedan

  • I had 2 fusions, the last a Fusion Platinum. Great car. I was going to abandon Ford, but I purchased a 2024 Ford Edge Titanium. It has a lot of the characteristics of the Fusion. It is better than the new Explorer. Drives and Rides like a European mid size SUV. Consumer Reports rates it as the top reliable midsize 2 row SUVs. I think only the Toyota 4 Runner out does it on reliability for all 2 and 3 row midsize SUVs. It is now cancelled. The Lincoln Nautilus, the China Ford Edge, lives on. Another mistake. Yes, the Edge was pricey, but so is everything else. If they cancel the Escape, why did they cancel the Edge? It sold well. Just the Explorer, Bronco and Expedition?

  • Cutting the Fusion was a big mistake in a long line of Ford mistakes under Farley. It's a great looking car that was immensely popular. Ford lost lots of sales when it cut the Fusion... ICE is still selling...

    • Wrong CEO. That wasn't Farley. Jim Hackett decided to discontinue most Ford cars sold in USA.

    • First time we haven't owned a FORD since 2021. But Thank you FORD for sending us to Hyundai, we love our Sonata Limited!

  • I owned 2 Ford Fusions. The 2010 sport was the best car I ever owned and want a new one just like it with all the updated safety features,

  • My first ford was a Pinto and my Last will be a Fusion energi. Many models in-between. I've lost hope that Ford even cares anymore.
