Consumer Reports Says 2025 Ford Escape Hybrid Should Be Avoided

The Ford Escape Hybrid has experienced its fair share of criticism from Consumer Reports in recent months, largely due to that model’s various reliability issues that have been reported by owners. Late last year, the consumer organization named the 2025 Ford Escape Hybrid as one of the least reliable vehicles on sale today, giving it a mere 21 out of 100 possible points, which placed it near the bottom of the pack. Things haven’t changed in the months since then, and now, Consumer Reports has once again highlighted the 2025 Ford Escape Hybrid as a vehicle shoppers should avoid.

In its latest list of popular cars to avoid and what to buy instead, Consumer Reports named the 2025 Ford Escape Hybrid as a vehicle that shoppers should shy away from, for a few reasons. The organization notes that while the electrified Escape is a good value, has nimble handling, smooth acceleration, and returns a solid 34 miles-per-gallon on average, its owners also report having a variety of issues with the small crossover. Those include powertrain troubles, along with problems pertaining to the infotainment system, and overall build quality.

As a result, the 2025 Ford Escape Hybrid has an overall score of just 54 out of 100 possible points, coupled with its low reliability score. CR recommends that shoppers in this segment look to the Honda CR-V instead, which has an overall score of 83 and costs only a bit more than the Escape. The CR-V has much a higher predicted reliability score and ownership score, along with lower ownership costs and a better resale value, to boot.

Consumer Reports went so far as to drop the Escape Hybrid from its list of recommended vehicles last December – mostly due to its reliability issues – and also highlighted the 2021-2023 model year versions of that same crossover as used vehicles to avoid, too. For those that really want to buy an Escape, the good news is, CR did add the non-hybrid version to its list of recommend vehicles last December, at least.

  1. Every Ford/Lincoln model be avoided at the moment due to quality control issues under Failure Farley. So far in 2025, Ford has had 76 recalls involving more than 2 million vehicles, there appears no solution in sight as long as Failure Farley is in charge.

  2. How does Mr. Farley still have a job? Bums like him normally get a big pay check for their failures when they leave, WHY?
