The Ford 5.0L Coyote V8 has become a legendary engine over the years, finding its way under the hoods of all manner of vehicles, from everyday workhorses to powerful performance models. A few examples of Ford vehicles cradling that Coyote engine have surfaced for sale recently, like a 1974 Ford Bronco and a 1972 Ford F-1500 harnessing that same powerhouse. Now, a classic Coyote-powered 1965 Ford Galaxie is up for grabs.

Listed on Bring a Trailer, this 1965 Ford Galaxie two-door fastback was acquired by the seller as a project car in 2022. They sank some time and money into customizing it over their three years of ownership, highlighted by the 5.0L Coyote V8 under the hood, which is mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The frame was boxed and reinforced, and the low-slung fastback rides smooth on a Ridetech air suspension with Hotchkis Sport adjustable control arms, while a set of Wildwood disc brakes provide stopping power.

Custom highlights include modified rear wheel wells, along with the rear light housings. All trim and badges were deleted and the holes patched over, while a panel was welded in the place of the original fuel filler. The rockers and quarter panels were extended in order to cover the pinch welds, while its custom rear valance and front splitter were fabricated. The bumpers were cut and tucked to create a clean, flow-through look, while a set of flush-mounted door handles were installed to complete the ensemble.

The front grille was lifted from a 1966 Galaxie, and features two tow points. Even the underside of the vehicle is finished and painted. A set of 19-inch wheels reside in all four corners, while inside, Paul’s Custom Interiors handled the passenger compartment. This includes Procar bucket seats with diamond-stitched blue upholstery, while the dashboard was upfitted from a 1963 Galaxie. This 1965 Ford Galaxie was painted Brilliant Silver by Turnkey Automotive in 2023.

Meanwhile, under the hood, that 5.0L Coyote V8 is from a 2011 model year Ford, and was rebuilt by Engines by JB in 2022. It features forged pistons and Flowtech headers, among other performance-ready upgrades. The seller notes that the 1965 Ford Galaxie build was selected as the winner of the Outstanding Paint and Engine Bay Award at the 2025 Detroit Autorama, and that it finished second in its class.

At the time of this writing, the high bid is $50,500, and prospective buyers have until June 18th, 2025 to join the auction.

  • From the times Ford produced real cars and not the bunch of useless, boring and unappealing SUV's and crossovers it produces today.

  • Amazing build and very well done. Lots of time money and talent in that car.. I had a 65 galaxie with a 390 and a 4 speed when i was a kid. Only thing i don't care for is the aire ride. don't care for lowered cars like that. Personal preference.

  • I had a '64 Ford Galaxia 500 2dr hardtop. Red with black top. It had a 289 Cu. In. V-8. It was a great car for someone my age of 18 yr old at the time. That was in 1970. It had no rust or dents and many people could not believe that a farm boy had such a car. I then drove it about 120 miles everyday going to school and back home for a job. Good mileage also for cars of the time.
My Dad and Mom had a 4 dr of the same style and year, but not as sharp looking being grey in color.
