Ford Mobile Service debuted in limited fashion via a handful of pilot markets a few years ago, but quickly gained steam as consumers gravitated toward the idea of having technicians come to their home or office to perform things like oil changes or other routine work. Thus, it was no surprise to learn that Ford Mobile Service expanded across the entire U.S. in January 2023, not to mention certain other countries, and it has only continued to grow in popularity since then. Recently, a Blue Oval executive shared an interesting statistic pertaining to this popular service, too.
“Pro continues to serve its customers in the way that they want to be served,” Ford CFO Sherry House said during the automaker’s Q1 2025 earnings call with investors. “In addition to adding new service elite base, mobile vans are driving growth in customer paid mobile repair orders, which are now seven percent of all customer paid repair orders.”
This revelation comes after the number of repair orders fulfilled by mobile service grew by a whopping 70 percent, year-over-year, in the third quarter of last year versus the same time frame in 2023. As of that same March, 2.4 million customers had taken advantage of these pickup and delivery plus mobile services, which prompted The Blue Oval to expand its mobile fleet to around 3,500 vehicles. More than 375,000 customers are using these services each month, and they’ve proven particularly popular on the Lincoln side of the business, as one out of every five service experiences in 2024 took place remotely.
With pickup and delivery, customers can have their preferred dealer come to their home or place of business, pick up their vehicle for a repair, and then get it dropped back off once that service is complete. In the event that a lighter repair or routine maintenance needs to be completed, Ford dealers can send a mobile service van to their location and perform that work on the spot. It is worth noting, however, that dealers have the ability to set their own mileage and service limits, so this will vary by location. Also, the program is voluntary, which means that not all dealers will be participating, though the services are complimentary.
