While it has issued far more recalls throughout the course of 2025 than any other automaker thus far, Ford has posted some improvements in initial quality – at least, as it pertains to the current model year. Ford CEO Jim Farley previously stated that the the 2025 model year lineup would present customers with considerable gains in terms of quality, and the 2025 J.D. Power U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS) backed up that claim as Ford and Lincoln posted the largest year-over-year improvements of any other automotive brand. Now, another Blue Oval executive is weighing in on that progress.
“We’re on track to deliver year over year warranty savings. The warranty spikes during launch are now at industry leading levels. We are on track to deliver greater than 10 percent improvement in repairs per thousand, both for zero months in service and three months in service for 25 vehicles,” Ford’s Chief Operating Officer, Kumar Galhotra, said during the automaker’s Q1 2025 earnings call with investors. “Ford and Lincoln were the most improved brands in J.D. Power’s 2025 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study,” Galhotra added. “During our launches in the first quarter, we lost zero vehicles versus our launch acceleration curves, and we deployed 9.5 million OTAs in the first quarter to address customer concerns.”
As Ford Authority previously reported, Claire Yarmak – a quality manager at the Kentucky Truck plant – recently stated that “quality was a relentless focus for this launch, and we’re really driving that process to make sure that we ship the best quality vehicle to the customer,” as it pertains to the redesigned 2025 Ford Expedition. Yarmak added that The Blue Oval “spared no expense” in regard to ensuring that the 2025 Expedition delivered the best possible quality to buyers, which is a result of the company beefing up its quality control, in general.
Yarmak revealed that the Kentucky Truck plant has achieved this in a variety of ways – starting with the fact that it utilized 20 new trained drivers to conduct tests and audits on every 2025 Ford Expedition that it builds. Ford also rolled out a total of 72 new finished vehicle compliance audits that are designed to ensure that every feature in the new Expedition is working as intended.

Quality improved says the company with 81 recalls this year leading all manufacturers and 14 more than all last year. What’s the end of the year going to look like 162 recalls.
Quality improved for the 2025 model year. How many of the 81 recalls affect the 2025 models?
The first sentence says it all highest amount of recalls over any other car company. Don’t be fooled by a PR follow up like “well it’s improved” no it’s the bottom of the worst. I’m actually impressed Ford authority posted this since it’s been covered in many other outlets. Highest Recall of all.
Can’t improve the quality of something that has already shipped. Improvements can only come in current / future products. The quote / story is specific to the 2025 model year – how many recalls are there for the 2025 model year vehicles?
Anything you say Kumar!
Couldn’t get any worse.
Warranty savings? My a$$. They’re doing that by DENYING warranty claims. Go back where you came from Felon Farley and take the other idiots in your harem with you.
Quality is Job One!
