Ford has long supported a variety of worthy causes via its philanthropic efforts, donating money, scholarships, grants, and other aid to everything from students to budding technicians to those in need of disaster relief. These efforts evolved a little over a year ago, when Ford Fund – the automaker’s philanthropic arm – was rebranded to Ford Philanthropy, a move intended to give those efforts a fresh, modern look, while also underscoring Ford’s commitment to “make the world a better place.” Now, Ford dealers are getting in on the giving, too.
The automaker has announced that it’s launching a new program known as Ford Building Together, which is designed to provide more localized help for specific communities. The new initiative supports four national nonprofits, specifically – American Red Cross, Feeding America, Habitat for Humanity, and Team Rubicon – each of which is on the ground in various communities across the entirety of the U.S.
The idea here is to connect with Ford dealers and tap into their extensive workforce to boost volunteering, all while The Blue Oval itself provides technology, vehicles, and other resources to support those efforts starting later this year. Ford dealers will host activations that cover topics such as storm preparedness, blood drives, as well as food and material collections. To help with that expansion, Ford is also increasing its volunteer paid time-off policy to encourage workers to lend their skills and expertise for charitable purposes. On top of that, Ford will also provide loaner vehicles to its non-profit partners, too.
This expansion comes after Ford has sprung into action on multiple occasions as of late, much of the time as part of disaster response efforts. Along with providing Ford Credit and Lincoln Financial Services customers with payment deferral options, The Blue Oval also partnered with Team Rubicon to form a disaster plan for the aftermath of Hurricane Helene even before it ravaged multiple states last fall.
