Competitive Sales Comparison (USA)

With 3,756 deliveries, a 30 percent increase, Ford E-Transit sales led the electric van segment during Q1 2025 when ranked by sales volume.

Rivian followed in second with its Delivery 700 and Delivery 500 models, which combined for 2,000 units. Sales of all-electric Chevy BrightDrop vans, namely the Zevo 600 and Zevo 400, are not broken out, but they cumulatively represented 274 deliveries.

Note that the Ram ProMaster EV debuted last year as the newest entry in this space, but, since sales are not broken out from those of the ICE-powered ProMaster, we are not including it in our analysis.

The Ford Authority Take

The Ford E-Transit van competes in a fledgling segment, one that includes all-electric models from Rivian and crosstown rival Chevy. And though the E-Transit led this space to account for nearly two-thirds of sales, volume in this space overall is still low compared to the ICE segment.

When the Ford E-Transit all-electric cargo delivery van arrived on scene in early 2022, its success caught The Blue Oval by surprise, causing the automaker to race to catch up with demand. Since then, the E-Transit has become one of the most popular electric vehicles for fleet customers. But Ford is still having trouble filling orders as it remains behind schedule with deliveries to USPS even as Pepsi just bought more units. Consequently, production is the biggest limiting factor in increasing sales, which could be considerable if Ford was able to build enough examples of the E-Transit in a timely fashion.

Meanwhile, The Blue Oval is already working on a second-generation Ford E-Transit, which will roll out of Ohio in 2026.

About Ford E-Transit

The 2025 Ford E-Transit ditches the old standard range 68 kWh battery pack – which was was previously available on Cargo Van, Cutaway, and Chassis Cab models – for the new, standard 89 kWh battery, which is now available for all 2025 E-Transit configurations. That follows the all-new extended range battery and faster charging that debuted in the 2024 E-Transit, providing increased range.

Also, the 2025 E-Transit gets tons of new packages and kits. This includes some factory-integrated vocational upfit packages, plus new interior accessory kits.

There are four factory-installed trade packages and options to choose from, all featuring components from Ranger Design and designed specifically for different industries, be it an electrician, HVAC, or general contractor.

Customers can also spec two new options, starting with a wall liner kit that includes lighting and wheel well covers to help aid in the installation of upfitting equipment. The other option is a large grab handles kit that enables easier accessibility into the van.

Smart Acceleration Truncation is now offered as a standalone option for fleet customers, which can help improve driver behavior by limiting acceleration based on auto-calculation of payload, enabling a smooth start after every stop.

For 50/50 Hinged Rear Door models, a 180-degree opening is standard on all low-/medium-roof cargo vans and all passenger vans, and a 253-degree opening is standard on all high-roof cargo vans and optional on all low/medium-roof variants.

Finally, the 2025 E-Transit cargo van now offers the Mobile Power Cord as an option, which comes with a fast charging adapter.

Production of the 2025 Ford E-Transit began in January.
