Ford versus Chevy is one of the fiercest rivalries in the automotive world, and it’s still going strong in the electric age. The crosstown rivals have been duking it out for decades, and their battle continues with the Ford F-150 Lightning squaring off against the Chevy Silverado EV. Recently, the Blue Oval’s electric pickup came out on top in a recent comparison against the Silverado EV, and now, the F-150 Lightning has raked in yet another victory.
This matchup was facilitated by AutoGuide.com. Managing director Mike Schlee takes the reins of the Chevy Silverado EV, while editor Kyle Patrick takes the Ford F-150 Lightning for a spin. Schlee says that the Silverado EV is just plain big, and notes that while its tailgate has some neat features like built-in steps, it’s a shame that it can’t be opened and closed remotely like the F-150 Lightning. However, the Silverado EV looks more like the Chevy Avalanche than a true Silverado, whereas the F-150 Lightning just looks like it belongs to the F-150 bloodline. “It’s a regular F-150 that happens to be electric,” as Patrick puts it.
While both pickups handle relatively well, the Chevy Silverado EV is a little more nimble than the Ford F-150 Lightning, thanks to its four-wheel steering capabilities. Where the F-150 Lightning must do a “massive three-point turn,” the Silverado EV can turn on a dime. The F-150 Lightning rides a little better, too, making it a comfortable all-around electric pickup.
In short, the scales are tipped in the favor of the Ford F-150 Lightning. “This is a good truck that happens to be electric,” Patrick says on the F-150 Lightning. “It feels just like an F-150, just with electric motors.”
The Chevy Silverado EV, on the other hand, “is an electric vehicle that just happens to be a truck,” according to Schlee. While the Silverado EV might be a better daily driver, that’s not the point of this comparison – and the F-150 Lightning, being the best purpose-built pickup of the two, is crowned winner.
The F-150 Lightning has put more than just the Silverado EV to shame. It beat out the Rivian R1T and Tesla Cybertruck, too.

The obligatory WHINE, kudos to you, thought you might have missed one…
No one ever tests these EVs in cold weather while towing
Thank you SCecoBoost! Really no one cares! GM just invested 880 million in V8 production plant, what happened to “Going all electric in 2026” Great way to go out of business. So how long can Ford loose Billions on EV production? Please stop the madness!
