Ford Motor Company has filed to trademark the Gridrack logo with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), Ford Authority has learned.

The Ford Authority Take
As Ford Authority reported yesterday, Ford Motor Company just filed to trademark “Gridrack” earlier this week which just so happens to be a company that makes and sells a new sort of cargo area storage system for pickups and vans. Gridrack’s website is already live and showing off these products, but none are available to purchase as of yet. Thus, it certainly seems as if Ford has acquired Gridrack, and this new trademark filing only adds more fuel to that proverbial fire.
As we can see in this new trademark filing, the Gridrack logo is pretty interesting in that it looks just like the locking grid that’s built into its products, which is designed to secure/snap gear into place in the bed of a pickup or the cargo area of a van, and then slide that entire panel out for easy access when desired. For pickup applications, the Gridrack is mounted to the floor of the bed, and features inserts that enable one to fasten various things to it, or straps to hold items firmly in place. In vans, those same panels can be mounted on the wall for the storage of tools and other things.
These trademark filings also allude to the fact that Gridrack will have its own app, which could be used for a variety of purposes. Gridrack already has an item called the Smart Box on its website, a connected storage bin that locks into place with the push of a button or via the app, too. It’s an interesting idea, and one that seems destined to go on sale in the very near future.
