Ford Motor Company has filed to trademark “Gridrack” with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), Ford Authority has learned.
Filed on June 18th, 2025, under serial number 99240603, this application contain the goods and services description of “vehicle parts, namely, storage management systems comprised of both sliding and fixed platforms as van panels and extendable truck beds, mounting hardware, storage containers, and lighting; truck bed and van storage organizers in the form of boxes and cases; vehicle parts, namely, truck bed extender and storage boxes; automotive cargo racks for trucks, SUVs, vans, and automobiles; dividers specially designed for use with truck bed and van organization systems; vehicle parts, namely, mounting brackets and hardware for attaching accessories to vehicle beds, cargo areas, and walls; cargo storage containers specially adapted for vehicles; vehicle modular storage systems comprised of mounting tracks, shelves, tables, bins, and containers.”
The Ford Authority Take
Ford has been in the business of acquiring companies as of late, with the most recent being Canopy – a security camera outfit that was originally formed as a joint-venture between the automaker and security company ADT. Now, it seems as if Ford has possibly purchased or is in the process of acquiring Gridrack, given this new trademark filing. That company already has a website full of products, but as of this writing, none of them are available to purchase yet.
These Gridrack products are designed to present truck and van owners with a new type of storage system enabling them to secure/snap gear into place in the bed of a pickup or the cargo area of a van, and then slide that entire panel out for easy access when desired. For pickup applications, the Gridrack is mounted to the floor of the bed, and features inserts that enable one to fasten various things to it, or straps to hold items firmly in place. In vans, those same panels can be mounted on the wall for the storage of tools and other things.
On top of that, the trademark filing suggests that Gridrack will have its own app, which could be used for a variety of purposes. Gridrack already has an item called the Smart Box on its website, a connected storage bin that locks into place with the push of a button or via the app, too. It’s an interesting idea, and one that seems destined to go on sale in the very near future.
