Ford Mustang GTD Production Reached Double Digits Last Month

Production of the fastest and most capable pony car ever – the Ford Mustang GTD – kicked off earlier this year, with deliveries slated to begin in Q2, so it won’t be too much longer before we start to see the GTD out in public. However, not too many Ford Mustang GTD models have been built over the past couple of months, which isn’t hugely surprising given its high price tag and exclusive nature. In fact, Multimatic produced two Ford Mustang GTD models in January, none in February, three in March, and one in April, but it seems as if things picked up significantly in May.

According to FoMoCo’s May sales report, Multimatic built a grand total of 10 Ford Mustang GTD models last month, which is its best figure to date, and brings the pony car’s year-to-date tally up to 16 thus far. After churning out two GTDs in January to kick off the year, Multimatic produced zero in February, followed by the aforementioned three in March, one in April, and now, 10 more to add to that tally.

The lucky folks that have the means to purchase a Ford Mustang GTD and were approved to do so have access to a special configurator for that model, as Ford Authority recently reported, and one buyer gave us an inside look at that process – along with the options customers can choose from. The Ford Mustang GTD terms of sale include a commitment requiring that owners keep their cars for a minimum of two years, just like the Ford GT, which is a stipulation that aims to prevent folks from flipping those vehicles for a profit, rather than driving and enjoying them.

The 2025 Ford Mustang GTD starts out at $325,000, but as Ford Authority previously reported, the Carbon Series will have an MSRP of $428,000, while the Spirit of America starts out at $429,000 – prices that don’t include any options, which can reportedly drive that number much higher. It’s worth noting that production of the Spirit of America model is limited to 20 percent of the overall GTD total, so it’s allocated, however.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
