Ford Mustang GTD Will Compete At 2025 Goodwood Festival Of Speed

The Ford Mustang GTD is a borderline overkill, track-eating beast. Over the last year, the pony car made short work of the Nürburgring, breaking the seven-minute barrier and even putting some exotic sports cars to shame while it was at it. It’s no wonder, then, that the track-ready pony car is gearing up for another appearance, getting ready to flex its muscle at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Ford Europe dropped the news on social media, proudly proclaiming that the Ford Mustang GTD will compete in the Supercar Shootout at Goodwood. This competition seeks to find the fastest of the bunch in a series of timed laps around a set course. And, given the Mustang GTD’s track record, it’s likely to plant itself at the top of the board without breaking a sweat, just like it did at the ‘Ring.

The Ford Mustang GTD is an extremely exclusive machine. Prospective buyers had to apply for the privilege and be approved by The Blue Oval, after which they were required to place a hefty deposit. That’s really no surprise, considering the track-ready pony carries a six-figure price tag. It starts at around the $325,000 mark, but it can run well over $400,000 as exclusively reported by Ford Authority – and that’s not even accounting for certain optional extras the buyer wants to tack on.

This year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed is scheduled to kick off on July 10th, 2025, and will run through July 13th. The Ford Mustang GTD is making its second appearance at Goodwood after attending the event last year, although back then, it was joined by a fellow Blue Oval performance machine: the all-electric Ford SuperVan of Pikes Peak Hillclimb fame.

  1. I wonder if drivers can pre-drive the course. With the Nurenbergring, it took some time with a very experienced driver having been familiar with that course to refine his lapping technique to achieve both under seven second times.
