Ford Mustang Track Academy Adds Performance Drift Course In China

In the U.S., Ford has long offered a wide array of post-purchase experiences, which include the on-track Ford Performance Racing School classes at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Many of those offerings are centered around the Ford Mustang, teaching owners how to get the most of their pony cars out on the track, all while honing their own driving skills in the process. However, the Ford Mustang has become a bit of a global phenomenon that’s sold in several other markets as well – including China – where customers can now learn how to drift in a special environment.

The Ford Mustang Track Academy just debuted this past April, offering owners the chance to participate in “Elite Course” and “Elite Course Pro” classes, which focus more on shaving seconds off one’s lap times. Now, those that want to learn how to drift will be able to do so as well thanks to a new, dedicated performance drift course, also located at Zhejiang International Racecourse. In the near future, the Ford Mustang Track Academy is set to hit the road, however, and visit cities including Nanjing, Chengdu, Tianjin, Guangdong, and Shanghai.

At the Chinese Ford Mustang Track Academy, the Performance Elite Class Pro is available to owners of both regular and Dark Horse models, and includes a full day of track training and competition. Things kick off with some classroom instruction to prepare students for the track, after which they learn valuable skills with pro instructors leading the way. For those that simply want to attend the drift experience, it’s available a la carte, too.

Along with the regular Ford Mustang EcoBoost, GT, and Dark Horse, Chinese shoppers also have a unique pony car variant to choose from as well – the 2.3T, which is essentially an EcoBoost model with some features from the V8-powered GT. Those include a unique GT performance appearance package exclusive to the Chinese market, one that features a larger front grille intake to boost airflow, 19-inch wheels, and a quad-exhaust tip setup out back.
